|AmeriCorps Service Partnership..
We have partnered with AmeriCorps at F.S.U. to provide storage, and when necessary, distribution
of food, supplies and other items to area Lions Clubs, churches, and other agencies.
|Ark Of Hope Animal Rescue...
In 2010 we adopted the Ark of Hope Animal Rescue & No Kill Shelter as a partner. Since that time
we have provided well over 4,000 lbs of pet food, truck loads of bedding and misc. supplies as well
as significant financial contributions to the shelter.
|Box Tops For Education...
In an effort to help our elementary schools in Frostburg, we collect Box Top For Education. This
program is an "alternative funding" project. Click "here" for a printable box top saving sheet.
|Coats For Kids (and adults)...
Coats for Kids (and adults) was begun in 2009. On the last Saturday of October we collects
children's coats (and adults). All coats are provided to the Frostburg Food Pantry for free
distribution. We have provided coats to the Salvation Army, and sent 1,000 coats to New York for
hurricane Sandy relief. We have collect nearly 6,000 coats.
|Childhood Cancer... This is an initiative of Lions International, and all Lions clubs participate in
their own way. We provide basic information about this disease through education.
|Emergency Preparedness & Lions ALERT...
In an effort to assist the community in a disaster situation, we have created "Emergency ALERT", a
program that provides information on Emergency Preparedness. "Be Prepared - Stay Prepared".
|Frostburg Summer Lunch Box Program...
The Frostburg Area Summer Lunch Box Program provides a free lunch for children in the
Frostburg / Mt. Savage areas. Frostburg Lions provides funding, administrative support and
volunteers. Additionaly, Frostburg Lions host the electronic signhup for Summer Lunch Box.
|F.S.U. Disability Office Endowment...
We established an endowment at Frostburg State University the proceeds of which are used by the
Student Disability Office to assist disabled students with their education.
|Failinger Business Award - Mountain Ridge H.S. ...
The Failinger Business Award is presented annually to a student majoring in business at Mountain
Ridge High School. The award is named after our own Lion Jake Failinger.
We recycle used eye glasses on a continual basis. Glasses are provided free of charge to those
in need around the world. Remote Area Medical receives the glasses we collect. The frames are
reused in the U.S., and the lenses are calibrated, packed and shipped world wide.
We participate in the Adopt A Highway Program for Maryland - we have a section of HY36 coming
|Leader Dogs for the Blind...
Leader Dogs for the Blind is located in Rochester, MI and as started in 1939 by three Lions.
Leader Dogs providing seeing eye dogs for blind persons, regardless of ability to pay. Leader

We distribute a wide range of literature on vision, emergency preparedness and health and
wellness. We do this in Frostburg, and at all public events we participate in.
|LVRF - Lions Vision Research Foundation...
Each year we provide a funding grant to LVRF to continue work at Wilmer Eye Institute at Johns
|Mabel Myers Music Award - Mountain Ridge H.S.....
This award is presented annual in memory of Mabel Myers, a Frostburg resident, piano player who
spent many hours playing piano for Lions functions.
As far as feasible, we adopt military personnel who we are aware of and are stationed overseas.
We provide them with support and goodies packages while stationed out of the United States.
|Peace Poster Contest...
In 2016, Frostburg Lions began participating in this program and sponsor it at beall elkementary,
as well as Frost Elementary when there is a student.
We participate in the District-wide program providing 12 food items per member to our local food
bank, and in addition we have pledged $10.00 per member to local feeding programs. We also
provide administrative support to the Frostburg Interfaith food pantry.
We hold an annual food drive the last Saturday in July, to benefit our local food pantry.
We began recycling in 2009, as a way to raise funds for the Club. We began recycling ink
cartridges and cell phones. Needless to say we continue to recycle, and raise funds from recycling
right here in Frostburg.
All Frostburg Lions participate in a variety of recycling program in our community. From cardboard
to glass Lions recycle as much as they can to help our environment.
In an effort to help preserve vision and educate the general public, we provide quite a number of
vision related brochures and other vision information.
|Toys For Happiness...
Each year at our Christmas Party we try to give a bit back...each member must bring a new toy for
Toys for Happiness. Each year the number of toys we collect grows.
Annually we provide financial support for a "little league" ball team. We have done this since
1957. We support both boys and girls (when available) teams). Each spring we hold a pizza party
for our team(s).
Since 1980 we have sponsor the Annual All Star Basketball Tournament featuring girls & boys high
school basketball stars from Western Maryland & West Virginia.
|Veterans Pizza Party...
Each year, around veterans Day we host a Pizza party at the F.S.U. Veterans Center to honor
those who have served.
Frostburg Lions members' participate in many other community activities, always giving back
through other organizations, churches and the like. Some of these activities include: Volunteering
with Hospice, the Evergreen Foundation, and the Council of the Aleganies.
Lions provide transportation for youth to attend sports events, senior to go to doctors
appointments, run errands and much more.
